İlay Alpgiray was born on August 12, 1987, in Istanbul. While studying at university, he shifted his focus to directing after a music video he shot for an electronic music track was accepted by MTV Music.

Gaining attention with a short film he made during university, he began working on various TV series and television programs in Turkey.

After directing numerous music videos and commercials, he turned to fashion and started making fashion films. His fashion films received official selections from film festivals in cities such as New York, London, Seattle, Sarajevo, the Dominican Republic, and Istanbul.

Most recently, he won the “Best Film Design” award at the Washington Fashion Film Festival.

In addition to directing commercials for major global brands, İlay Alpgiray also directs documentary and series projects for television and digital platforms.

He actively continues his projects in both Istanbul and New York.
